HIGH-RISING FLOUR

Serves: 5

Ingredients

Directions:

Even as early as 1920, the folks at the Washburn Crosby Company (later General Mills) were interested in helping homemakers find easier ways to do things. In that year, they introduced self-rising flour, which had the correct proportions of salt and baking powder added to it, so that quick breads and biscuits could be mixed more conveniently. Special recipes for using this flour in other baked goods, such as cakes and cookies, were available, too.
