"Mother's pork roast was so good and tender, and her spiced apples were the next best thing to candy!" Some of Oma's most cherished childhood memories are of helping her mother prepare this special meal. "Mother let me spoon the dough for the rolls into the pan, and that made me feel so important," she reflects. Oma's father, meanwhile, thought the highlight of the meal was dessert. When his wife's delicious cake was served, he would say, "It makes my taste buds stand up and applaud!" "I can still hear him saying that," Oma smiles, "and that memory of my father still comes to mind whenever I make Mother's favorite Bananas 'n' Cream Bundt Cake."
