Like many garnishes, this one can be made with a variety of ingredients. The cherry can be replaced with a carrot slice; instead of parsley, try a sprig of carrot top; or use a small round of kiwi in place of the banana.
2 fresh pineapples wedges, with skin and cut 1/4-inch thick
2 bananas slices, with skin and cut 1/4-inch thick
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
2 sprigs (small) parsley
2 stemless maraschino cherries
2 (6-inch) wooden skewers
Lightly brush the pineapple and banana with lemon juice to prevent them from turning brown. Thread a wedge of pineapple on a skewer, about a third of the way up the skewer. Thread the banana behind the pineapple, then wrap the stem of the parsley around the skewer, and, finally, add the cherry. Repeat with the remaining skewer.
