Melt 2 tablespoons of margarine in a skillet over meat heat, add the mushrooms and garlic and sauté for 5 minutes. Add the onion powder and stir. Add the soy sauce, wine and Tabasco and simmer until the sauce begins to thicken.
Melt the remaining margarine in a skillet over medium high heat. Season the scallops with the salt and pepper, add to the scallops to the skillet and sauté for 3 minutes. Add the sauce, reduce the heat and simmer for 2 minutes more.
