1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons onions chopped
1/3 cup red wine vinegar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 tablespoons poppy seeds
Place sugar and onion in a blender container or food processor bowl. Cover and blend or process until onion is finely minced and has almost disappeared. Add vinegar, dry mustard, salt and paprika. Cover and blend or process until smooth. With motor running, slowly add oil through opening in lid and continue to blend or process until mixture is thick. Stir in poppy seeds. Pour into a jar with a tight-fitting lid. Cover and chill to develop flavor.
Shake well. Serve over Cantaloupe Salad fruit salads, sliced avocados or spinach salads.
