Broiled Burgers with Mushrooms and Onions |

Serves: 4
Punch up the flavor of the mushrooms on your burger! Why not try using 1/4 cup sliced fresh mushrooms-try button, portobello, or shiitake-for the canned.

1 pound ground beef
3 tablespoons finely chopped onions
3 tablespoons water
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper

1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon margarine or butter
1 can (4 ounces) mushroom stems and pieces, drained
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1. Mix ground beef, onion, water, salt and pepper. Shape mixture into 4 patties, each about 3/4 inch thick.
2. Set oven control to broil. Place patties on rack in broiler pan. Broil with tops about 3 inches from heat until desired doneness, 5 to 7 minutes on each side for medium. Prepare Mushrooms and Onions; spoon over hamburgers.
For Mushrooms and Onions
Cook onion in margarine over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until tender. Stir in mushrooms and Worcestershire sauce; heat until mushrooms are hot.
