Wheat Muffins

Ingredients

1 egg
1/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup buttermilk
1 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups wheat flakes cold cereal

Directions:

Beat egg, shortening, and brown sugar in large bowl until smooth. Stir in buttermilk. Add flour, salt, baking powder and soda just until flour is moistened. Batter will be lumpy. Stir in cereal flakes. Fill greased muffin cups about 2/3 full. Bake at 375°F until golden brown, about 20 to 25 minutes.
