Ingredients

3 cups penne pasta, uncooked
2 teaspoons olive oil
6 hot Italian pork sausage links, cut into 1/2-inch slices
2 cups rosé pasta sauce or creamy tomato pasta sauce
Optional: 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
1 cup green, red and/or yellow peppers, thinly sliced

Directions:

Cook pasta according to package directions, just until tender; drain. Meanwhile, heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat; cook sausages very well. Add pasta sauce and cream cheese, if using; reduce heat and simmer until warmed through. Add pepper strips and cook until crisp-tender. Toss with cooked pasta.

Tip: Nothing perks up the flavor of tomato sauce like fresh basil! Keep a pot of basil in the kitchen windowsill and just pinch off a few leaves whenever they’re needed.
