Fried Cheese Cubes

Ingredients

3 eggs large
1 1/2 cups bread crumbs
3/4 cup wheat germ
1/4 teaspoon red bell pepper ground
8 ounces fontina cheese Havarti, Monterey Jack, Edam, Cheddar, Muenste
vegetable oil

Directions:

Lightly grease a baking sheet.

In a small bowl, beat eggs well.

In a medium bowl, mix crumbs, wheat germ, and pepper.

Dip cheese cubes into eggs, then into crumb mixture, coating well dip and coat again. Place on baking sheet and freeze 30 minutes or cover and chill at least 1 hour.

Pour vegetable oil into a large skillet to a depth of 1 inch. Heat oil over medium-high heat to 375°. Place cheese cubes, a few at a time, in the oil and fry 30 to 60 seconds until a deep golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Keep warm until all cheese is fried.

Serve immediately on a warming tray with wooden picks.
