Baked Apple Tapioca

Ingredients

4 cups water
3 tablespoons lemon juice
4 apples, tart, unpared but sliced
1/2 cup tapioca
1 1/3 cups brown sugar, packed
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
4 tablespoons butter

Directions:

In buttered 2-quart casserole combine water and lemon juice. Add apples cover and bake at 375 degrees F. for 15 minutes. Mix together tapioca, brown sugar, salt, and nutmeg or mace. Stir into hot apples. Add butter stir until melted. Cover continue baking 15 minutes longer, stirring once. Allow to stand 10 to 15 minutes before serving. Good hot or cold, served, if desired, with sweetened whipped cream.
