Chili for a Crowd

Ingredients

1 large onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 pounds lean ground beef
1/2 - 1 pound pinto beans, cooked till tender
1 pint tomato juice
1 (16- to 20-ounce) can chopped tomato
1 1/2 tablespoons salt
1 teaspoon cumin
1/2 tablespoon sugar
2 quarts water from beans
2 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup water

Directions:

Sauté onion, green pepper, and garlic cloves in butter. Add ground beef and bacon pieces and sauté till cooked thoroughly. Add beans, tomato juice, chopped tomatoes, salt, cumin, sugar, and water from beans. Cook ingredients together on medium heat till hot; reduce heat; cook for at least 2 hours. Mix together flour, chili powder, and Worcestershire with water; add to chili; stir well. Simmer till ready to serve.
