Prepare cake mix according to package directions, baking in two, 9" round baking pans. Cool; slice each layer horizontally in half to make 4 layers. To make frosting, mix remaining ingredients together well. Frost and stack layers on a cake plate; frost top and sides of cake with remaining frosting. Cover and refrigerate cake for one to 3 days before serving, as flavor improves with age.
