Non-Dairy Whipped Topping

Serves: 5

Ingredients

Directions:

Cool Whip® was the first non-dairy whipped topping to hit the market. It was invented by General Foods and marketed in 1966 in response to demands of housewives. They wanted a dessert topping that came already whipped, didn't need any preparation, and that tasted as good as whipped cream. Prior to the advent of non-dairy whipped topping, housewives relied on costly cream that they whipped stiff and sweetened with sugar, to serve with desserts. General Foods met their demands and introduced Cool Whip®. It was an instant success and continues to be very popular today. What's it made of? Water, sugar, tropical oils, and many additives that give it flavor, texture, and color.
