Batter for 2 (9-inch) chocolate cake layers
   _ teaspoon water
   _ drops food colors green
   _ cups coconut flaked
2 cups ready-to-spread frosting vanilla, or Buttercream Frosting
   _ malted milk balls
2 sugar cookies (2-inch) or vanilla wafers
   _ 10-inch round cake plate
   Corn candy (about 12)
   _ marshmallows large
   _ striped plastic straws

To bake the cake: Grease and flour a 2 1/2 -quart straight-sided casserole or ovenproof bowl. Pour in batter. Bake in a preheated 375° oven for 50 minutes or until a wooden skewer inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in casserole or bowl on a wire rack for 15 minutes. Remove from container and cool completely.

To prepare the coconut: Place water and food color in a plastic bag. Add coconut. Seal bag and shake until coconut is evenly colored.

To make the eyes: Using a dab of frosting, fasten one malted milk ball to each sugar cookie or vanilla wafer.

To prepare the cake: Brush loose crumbs from surface of cake with a soft pastry brush. Place cake on cake plate. Remove a narrow wedge from front of cake for a mouth. Reserve 1 tablespoon of the frosting. Use remaining frosting on top and sides of cake, leaving inside of mouth unfrosted.

To decorate the cake: Before the frosting sets, pat tinted coconut onto frosting. Using small dabs of reserved frosting, fasten eyes onto monster. Fasten corn candy around mouth for teeth. Stick a marshmallow on top of each straw. Stick bottoms of straws into top of cake for antenna.
