Grits Casserole

1 cup quick cooking grits
4 cups water boiling
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter real
1 egg well beaten
1 (5-ounce) jar pasteurized process cheese spread
1 tablespoon sherry
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 hot pepper sauce to 1 teaspoon
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder


Preheat oven to 300° F. In a large saucepan slowly stir grits into boiling salted water. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes.

Stir in butter, egg, cheese, sherry, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce and garlic powder. Pour into a shallow 1 1/2 -quart casserole. Bake for 60 to 70 minutes or until golden.
