Quick Brown Bread

Ingredients

2 cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 egg
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup molasses
1/4 cup shortening

Directions:

Mix the flour, salt, soda, and baking powder thoroughly. Beat the egg and add to it the buttermilk, molasses, and shortening. Add the liquid to the dry ingredients and stir only enough to barely mix. Bake in a well-greased loaf pan at 350° for 30 minutes. Cut in slices and serve hot.
