Fruit Cocktail Cake

1 (16-ounce) can fruit cocktail
1 cup flour, sifted
1 cup and 2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup pecans


Put first 6 ingredients together in pan or mixing bowl and stir with a spoon; do not beat. Pour into greased 8x8-inch pan. Top with brown sugar and pecans. Bake at 350° for 35–40 minutes.
