Chili

Ingredients

2 (20-ounce) cans kidney beans
1/4 cup polyunsaturated margarine
1 1/2 cups chopped onions
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 pound extra lean ground round steak
1 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 1/2 to 3 teaspoon chili powder

Directions:

Drain the beans and reserve 2 cups of the liquid (add sufficient water to make 2 cups if needed).

Heat the margarine in a large saucepan and brown the meat. Pour off the excess fat. Stir in the reserved bean liquid, water, salt and chili powder. Bring the mixture to a boil, cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes. Uncover, add the beans and continue cooking, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes.

Serve hot.
