Mix first 4 ingredients in a 2-quart glass bowl. Microwave on HIGH 12 minutes, stirring every 4 minutes. Add soda, stirring well while it foams. Microwave on HIGH 1 minute longer. Beat mixture until it thickens and loses its gloss. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto buttered wax paper; let stand until firm.
Fun Fact: Did you know there are half-circle perforations on both ends of tinfoil and clear wrap boxes for you to punch in so the roll won’t come out when you’re pulling it? I didn’t, till my daughter pointed it out to me. I did know about the one in the middle of the wax paper box that comes all the way out so you can encourage the paper away from the box with your finger. Sure makes it easier.
