Winter's Day Stew


Serves: 8

Ingredients

1 1/2 to 2 pounds venison roast or steak, cut into 1-inch pieces
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cups diced onions
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cumin
3/4 cup apple cider
3/4 cup dark beer
4 cups diced winter squash (acorn or banana are best)
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup chopped green pepper
2 cups chopped apples

Directions:

Saute together meat, onions and garlic in olive oil. Transfer to 2 quart (or larger) crock pot or Dutch oven. Add the rest of the ingredients. Slow cook 5-6 hours on low or until tender.
