Chilly Morning Chili Cheese Pie

3 (4-ounce) cans chopped green chilies, drained
4 cups shredded Cheddar cheese (1-lb)
1 cup dried milk (1 envelope)
3 cups water
1 1/2 cups buttermilk baking mix or Bisquick®
6 eggs
1 pound bacon or sausage, fried and crumbled
1 medium onion (optional) sauteed in fat or raw, chopped
1/2 teaspoon basil, chopped (optional)
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional
(Rather than using oregano, basil, and Worchestershire® sauceuse cumin and chili powder)


Spray a 10-inch Dutch oven with a non-stick spray, or coat with oil. Sprinkle chiles and cheese evenly in the oven. Beat eggs, water, dried milk, and Bisquick® together until smooth. Mix in the crumbled bacon and any optionals you choose. Pour this mix into the Dutch oven. Bake about 40-45 minutes or until a knife blade comes out clean. Use about 6 briquets under the Dutch and 10 on the lid.
