Breakfast Meats Dutch Oven Style

When cooking breakfast for a large group of folks, don’t waste valuable cooking area by fixing bacon, sausage or other breakfast meat in a fry pan over your stove. Use the Dutch in your fire pit, or in the firebox if you are restricted to use of such a box on the river or camping. Serves a bunch!


   _ to 2 pounds bacon
   Ham, link or Italian sausage, pork loin or all types
   __-inch or 14-inch Dutch Oven


Place meats, bacon first, in bottom of Dutch. Put any or all of the other miscellaneous meats over the top of the bacon. Cover Dutch and put in fire pit or firebox over and against hot wood coals.

As the meat cooks and "fry’s up," stir frequently to keep from burning. When done, pull from fire and transfer breakfast meats to deep dish or pan lined with paper towels to absorb any fat not drained on transfer from Dutch Oven.
