Chopped Beef (Picadinho de carne)

Ingredients

2 pounds sirloin tip or rum beef steaks -cut in very small strips with a sharp knife
1 tablespoon butter
1 onion finely chopped
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
3 finely chopped tomatoes (with skin or seeds)
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley
Brazilian Rice (Arroz brasileiro)

Directions:

This very traditional dish was our children’s favorite.

Melt the butter, add onion and garlic. Add the meat a little at a time frying slowly. Add tomatoes, add one other vegetable. It might be:
__carrots finely chopped
__potatoes in small cubes
__okra with both ends cut off
__chopped baking squash.

Add the salt, pepper, Worchester™ sauce, and Ketchup™ and parsley.

Serve with Brazilian rice.
