Ingredients

The Sauce:
1/2 cup ketchup
3 tablespoons brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

The Loaf:
1 pound ground beef
1/2 pound ground veal
1/2 pound ground pork or lamb
1 medium onion, chopped or grated
1 large egg, beaten
1/2 cup plain dried bread crumbs
3 - 4 tablespoons cold water
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Directions:

For The Sauce:
Place all ingredients in a small bowl and mix to combine. Set aside.

For The Loaf:
Preheat oven to 350°. Combine the meats in a large mixing bowl. Add the remaining loaf ingredients and press into an 8 1/2 x4 1/2-inch loaf pan, making a long indention in the center. Bake for 25 minutes. Pour the sauce over the top of the loaf and continue to bake until the meat loaf is caramelized and mahogany in color, another 20–30 minutes. Serve with Hot and Sweet Mustard.

Note:
Use your hands to mix the meats together. It is easier. For weight-conscious people, you can substitute ground turkey for any of the meats, if you wish. The secret to this meat loaf is the water, because it makes the loaf light and airy. The combination of meats helps to this end as well.
