Grandmother's Mayonnaise

Ingredients

2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon white pepper (optional)
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups hot water
2 eggs
1 cup vinegar
1 tablespoon melted butter
1 cup milk

Directions:

In the top of a double boiler, mix together sugar, flour, mustard, pepper, and salt. Add hot water and cook till smooth. Beat eggs and add half of the cooked mixture. Beat, then add the other half and mix well. Add vinegar, butter, and milk. Heat through and pour in jar with good cover and keep in the refrigerator.
