Carson's Getting Married... So the Boys Are Fending for Themselves!

First, I have some exciting news...

We finished Magic Scan for Android!

Woohoo!!

We submitted the update to Google today. Now we just have to wait for Google to give us the thumbs up so we can release it.

Android users...your Cook'n app is about to get a whole lot more magical!

Now for the other exciting news...

This Friday, my son Carson is getting married!

Kathy has been working around the clock getting everything ready because we're serving a full dinner at the wedding reception.

Which means...

The boys and I have pretty much been left to fend for ourselves at dinnertime.

Fortunately, our garden has decided this is the year to produce enough vegetables to feed a small village.

Last summer, I wrote about the gardening trick I discovered that completely transformed our garden.

Click here to read about the gardening trick.

This year I used the exact same method...

...and I think it may have worked a little too well.

We're getting so many vegetables that we can hardly keep up! Even the pepper plants are almost as tall as my daughter-in-law, Kenzie!

The other night, I walked into the kitchen and decided it was time to improvise.

I put a big batch of fresh green beans in the pressure cooker and seasoned them really well.

Then I opened the refrigerator and started throwing things into a frying pan.

I sliced up some zucchini from the garden and started frying it in butter. We had some mushrooms in the fridge, so I thought, "What the heck?" and threw those in too.

I seasoned everything with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and a little Lawry's Seasoned Salt.

Then I found a package of Costco's Pineapple & Bacon Brats.

Perfect.

I sliced those up and tossed them into the pan.

At that point, everything smelled amazing. But we still needed some kind of carbohydrate to make it a complete meal.

That's when I looked in the refrigerator and found...

A little container of leftover rice.

And another little container of leftover pasta.

Normally, I probably would have picked one or the other.

Instead, I thought, "Why not both?"

So in they went!

When it was finished, I snapped a picture and texted it to Carson, who would be coming home from work soon.

A few seconds later, my phone buzzed.

"Oh baby!!...Save some for me!"

That made me laugh.

I'll admit, this meal was a complete hodgepodge. If someone had handed me the ingredient list ahead of time, I probably would have questioned their judgment.

But somehow, it all worked!

The fresh vegetables from the garden were delicious, and those Pineapple & Bacon Brats from Costco absolutely made the dish.

Andan, Carson, and I devoured it. There wasn't a bite left!

Desperate times call for desperate measures!

As we get closer to the wedding, I have a feeling we're going to be doing a lot more creative cooking.

Thankfully, Cook'n's Recently Made Recipes and AI Recipe Recommendations are ready whenever inspiration runs out.

Wish us luck!

And Android users...keep your eyes peeled for that Magic Scan update. It's about to make your Cook'n app a whole lot more magical!
