11 Healthy Snack Alternatives

By Whitney Saupan

Are you a snacker? Do you find yourself munching on things throughout the day? Do these things include chips, candy or sweets? If you answered yes to any of the questions above you aren't alone. Chips, candy and sweets, although delicious, aren't very good for us and can impact our bodies and our minds. You're probably thinking something like, "I've heard this all before, but junk food tastes so good," or "I'm hungry all day, I need to snack!" Well there is a way to control our hunger, eat healthy and be happy with our snack choices. Give these delicious, nutritious and healthy snack alternatives a try.

Instead of Chips try:

  • Vegetables with hummus, peanut butter, or low-fat ranch
  • Popcorn without the toppings
  • Nuts and Seeds

Replace candy with:

  • Fresh fruit
  • Trail mix
  • Dark chocolate

Get rid of your processed snacks and try:

  • Hard boiled eggs
  • Cheese sticks
  • Graham crackers, with or without almond spread

Satisfy your sweet tooth with:

  • A glass of chocolate milk
  • Greek yogurt with fruit or granola mixed in
