Fruit Compote

Serves: 4

Ingredients

1 tablespoon mulling spices*
2 to 3 stevia tea bags
1 1/2 cups water
2 cups fresh fruit of choice, diced or halved is using grapes and/or cherries

Directions:

• Simmer the spices and stevia tea bags in the water for about 10 to 15 minutes. Remove the spices and stevia. Return the water to the heat and bring to a boil. Drop the fruit into the liquid, and immediately reduce to a simmer. Simmer about 1 minute or until the fruit is tender. Serve immediately in the sweet, spicy sauce.
• Very soft fruit like ripe peaches or ripe pears will need to be quickly cooled down by placing the pan in a cold water bath to keep the fruit from overcooking. Hard fruit like apples will have to be cooked longer than the other fruit.

Suggested fruit: pears, peaches, kiwi, cherries, grapes, or blueberries.

*To make your own spice mix, use:
1 teaspoon whole cloves
1 teaspoon whole allspice
1 cinnamon stick
