Crab Cobbler

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon Ac'cent (optional)
1 cup milk
1 cup shredded American cheese
1 cup crabmeat
1 1/2 cups drained chopped tomatoes
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt


In top of a double boiler, add butter, green pepper, and chopped onion; let cook about 10 minutes. Blend in flour, dry mustard, Ac’cent, milk, and cheese; cook and stir until cheese melts and mixture is very thick. Add crabmeat, tomatoes, Worcestershire, and salt. Pour into a greased 2-quart casserole.

Cheese Bisquick Topping:
Combine all ingredients and drop by teaspoons on top of crab mixture. Bake in 450° oven 20–25 minutes.

The show was created by Whitney Blake and Allan Manings, a husband-and-wife writing duo who were both actors in the 1950s and 1960s. The show was based on Whitney Blake’s own life as a single mother, raising her child, future actress Meredith Baxter.
