Coconut Chews

3/4 cup shortening (half butter or margarine), softened
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 eggs
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
1/2 cup flaked coconut
Orange-Lemon Icing:
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
3 tablespoons orange juice
3 teaspoons lemon juice


Heat oven to 350°. Cream shortening and powdered sugar. Blend in 1 1/2 cups flour. Press evenly in bottom of ungreased 9x13x2-inch baking pan. Bake 12 - 15 minutes. Mix remaining ingredients; spread over hot baked layer and bake 20 minutes longer. While warm, spread with icing. Cool. Cut into bars.

Orange-Lemon Icing:
Mix until smooth and of spreading consistency.
