Country Apple Pie with Lemon Glaze

pastry for 2-crust pie
5 - 7 apples
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
Lemon Glaze:
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1 tablespoon lemon juice
powdered sugar (enough to thicken)


Line a 9-inch pie plate with bottom of crust. Pare, core, and slice apples. Combine with mixture of sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Place in pastry-lined plate. Dot with butter. Place top crust over filling. Trim and seal. Prick or cut slots to allow steam to escape. Bake at 400° for 30–40 minutes or until apples are cooked and crust is lightly browned. If crust gets too brown before pie is done, place a sheet of foil over pie and continue baking.

Lemon Glaze:
Mix above ingredients in small bowl. Wait about 10 minutes after pie is out of oven. Spread over pie.
