Strawberry Orange Morning Relish


Serves: 6

Ingredients

3 to 4 large navel oranges
2 tablespoons grand marnier or other orange-flavored liqueur
2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 cup currant jelly
1/4 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice, or to taste

Directions:

1. Peel the oranges and cut crosswise into 5 or 6 slices. Layer the slices in a shallow serving bowl, drizzle with the liqueur, and set aside. In a small bowl, combine the strawberries and sugar, and set aside for 30 minutes.
2. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the jelly, and stir in the lemon juice. Pour the warm jelly over the strawberries and mix well. Spoon the strawberries and sauce over the oranges and set aside for at least 45 minutes, or chill for 1 to 2 hours before serving.
