English Toffee

Ingredients

2 cups sugar
2 cups butter (this is a must)
6 tablespoons water
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 (4-ounce) bar chocolate, broken (or chocolate chips if you like dark chocolate)
1 cup chopped nuts

Directions:

Combine sugar, butter, and water in heavy saucepan. Cook to 300° on candy thermometer, stirring constantly. Add vanilla and pour on buttered cookie sheet. Sprinkle chocolates on top and spread as they melt. Sprinkle nuts on top. Cool and break into pieces.
