Cherry-Berries on a Cloud

Ingredients

6 egg whites
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 3/4 cups sugar

Filling:
2 (3-ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups whipped cream (1/2 pint)
2 cups miniature marshmallows

Topping:
1 can cherry pie filling
1 teaspoon lemon juice
2 cups sliced, fresh strawberries or 1 package frozen strawberries, thawed

Directions:

Heat oven to 275°. Grease a 9x13x2-inch pan. Beat egg whites, cream of tartar and salt until frothy. Gradually beat in sugar. Beat until stiff and glossy, about 15 minutes. Spread in pan. Bake 60 minutes. Turn oven off and leave meringue in oven until cool, about 12 hours or overnight.

Filling:
Mix cream cheese with sugar (add gradually) and vanilla. Gently fold in whipped cream and marshmallows. Spread over meringue and refrigerate 12 hours or overnight. Cut into serving pieces and top with Topping.

Topping:
Stir the can of cherry pie filling with juice into the sliced strawberries.
