Glazed Country Steak

Ingredients

1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 pounds boneless beef chuck should steak, cut into serving-size pieces
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/4 cup dry white wine
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
1/4 cup tomato juice
1 teaspoon parsley flakes
1/2 cup beef broth
1 small onion, chopped
2 cups cubed raw potatoes
1 cup carrot chunks
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 cup raisins

Directions:

Combine flour, salt, and pepper; pound into steak. in skillet, brown steak pieces on both sides in oil. Pour off drippings. Add wine, garlic, tomato juice, parsley flakes, beef broth, and onion. Cook, covered, over low heat for 30 minutes. Add potatoes and carrots; cook 30 minutes more. Sprinkle with brown sugar and raisins; simmer 15 minutes, or until meat is tender. Serve on platter encircled with vegetables.
