How to toast seeds, nuts, and breadcrumbs

Set a dry skillet over medium heat. Add the seeds, nuts, or breadcrumbs and heat until lightly toasted, 3 to 5 minutes, shaking the skillet occasionally. Remove to a plate to cool.

Toasting can also be done in a preheated 350°F oven. Spread out the seeds, nuts, or crumbs on a baking sheet and place in the oven until lightly browned, 5 to 10 minutes. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
