Soup à la Tortilla

Ingredients

2 (14 1/2-ounce) cans diced Mexican tomatoes
1 (14-ounce) can sliced carrots
1 cup frozen chopped onion
1 cup water
1 (14 1/2-ounce) can chicken broth
1 cup diced, cooked chicken
1 (4-ounce) can diced green chiles
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 (15-ounce) cans pinto beans
1/3 cup snipped fresh cilantro
tortilla chips, broken

Directions:

Combine tomatoes, carrots, onion, water, broth, chicken, green chiles, and salt. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 20 minutes. add beans and cilantro. Heat thoroughly. To serve, ladle soup into bowls. Put a few tortilla chips in each soup bowl. Serve immediately.
