Refrigerator Nut Cookies

Ingredients

1/3 cup vegetable shortening solid
1/3 cup butter real
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1/3 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup walnuts finely chopped or almonds
1 2/3 cups flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon ground
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

In large saucepan, melt shortening and butter. Mix in remainder of ingredients until well blended. Shape into 1 long or 2 short rolls wrap in wax paper and refrigerate for several hours or overnight. Slice into 1/4 -inch slices and bake on ungreased baking sheet in a preheated 350° F oven for 10 to 15 minutes.
