Quick Chow Mein

Ingredients

2 cups meat, cooked and cut into 1/2-inch strips
2 tablespoons onions slivered
1/2 green bell pepper, cut in strips lengthwise
1 1/2 cups celery diagonally sliced
2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup water boiling
1 teaspoon bouillon granules
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1/4 cup water cold
3 cups white rice, cooked

Directions:

Prepare meat (beef, pork, venison, or chicken) and vegetables set aside in separate piles. In hot shortening in wok or heavy skillet, stir-fry meat and onion until lightly browned. Add salt and boiling water in which bouillon has been dissolved. Lower heat, cover mixture, and cook 10 minutes. Add green pepper and celery cover and cook 5 minutes. Blend cornstarch, soy sauce, and cold water. Add to meat and cook, stirring until thick. Serve immediately on cooked rice.
