Marinated Green Beans

Ingredients

1 pound green beans cut in 1 1/2 -inch pieces
1/3 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar packed
3 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
dash salt
1 (8-ounce) can water chestnut sliced, drained
1/2 red onion small, thinly sliced

Directions:

Boil or steam green beans 5 to 15 minutes until desired doneness. Drain and chill.

In a medium bowl, whisk vinegar, sugars, ketchup, oil, Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, and salt until blended. Add beans, water chestnuts, and onion, stirring until coated. Let stand at room temperature up to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.


Serve with sandwiches and pasta salad.
