1 2/3 cups sugar
3/4 cup water
1/2 orange small
1 12-ounce package cranberries fresh, washed (3 cups)
1 stick cinnamon (3 inches) broken
4 cloves whole
In a heavy medium saucepan, combine sugar and water. Over medium-high heat,bring to a boil and boil without stirring for 3 minutes.
Finely chop orange including rind. Add orange, cranberries and spices to syrup. Stirring occasionally, cook over low heat for 4 to 5 minutes or until cranberries burst. Remove from heat.
Cool; remove cinnamon and cloves. Ladle into sterilized containers; cover and refrigerate. Serve at room temperature.
