Cherry-Chocolate Chunk Cookies |

1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup brown sugar packed
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
3 tablespoons sugar
1 egg large
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup milk chocolate chips chocolate chunks
1/2 cup red maraschino cherries coarsely chopped, well drained
1/2 cup almonds slivered

Preheat oven to 375°. Lightly grease baking sheets.
In a small bowl, stir flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.
In a large mixer bowl at medium speed, beat brown sugar, butter and sugar until creamy. Beat in egg, vanilla and almond extract. At low speed, gradually beat in flour mixture until well blended. Stir in chocolate, cherries and almonds. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart on baking sheets.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes* or until lightly browned. For chewy cookies, use the shorter baking time. Cool cookies on wire racks.
Store in an airtight container in a cool place.
*If chocolate chunks are not available in your supermarket, chop squares of semisweet baking chocolate into 1/2 -inch pieces.
