Apple Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup flour, stirred and measured
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup apple, unpeeled and chopped
1 cup walnuts coarsely chopped

Directions:

Cream butter (or margarine) and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together flour, baking powder, spices, and salt blend into egg mixture. Stir in rolled oats (quick-cooking or regular), apples, and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheet about 1 1/2 inches apart. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes 2 dozen medium large cookies. (Recipe may be doubled.)
