12 to 16 servings, about 2 cups
_ cups powdered sugar
___ cup shortening
___ cup milk
1/2 teaspoon clear vanilla extract or almond extract
1- Mix powdered sugar and shortening in medium bowl with spoon or with electric mixer on low speed.
2- Stir in milk and vanilla until smooth. If necessary, stir in additional milk, a few drops at a time, until smooth and spreadable.
**Generously frosts a 13 x 9-inch cake, or fills and frosts an 8- or 9-inch two-layer cake. **
Betty's Tip: This frosting is perfect when you want a topping that's white as snow. Clear vanilla or almond extract adds a nice flavor but won't change the color of the frosting.
