Ingredients

baked or bought yellow cake
16 ounces vanilla ready-made pudding
2 (8-ounce) cans crushed pineapple, with juice
1 (21-ounce) can cherry pie filling, divided
1 (7-ounce) package flaked coconut (optional)
2 (8-ounce) containers Cool Whip
maraschino cherry for garnish (optional)

Directions:

Break cake into 1-inch pieces. Layer 1/2 of cake pieces in bottom of large glass bowl. Spoon 1/2 pudding evenly over cake pieces; top with 1 can pineapple with juice, 1/2 cherry pie filling, and 1/2 package coconut, if desired. Spread 1 container of Cool Whip evenly over top. Repeat layer, ending with Cool Whip and coconut on top. Garnish with maraschino cherries.

Fun Fact: Presenting food attractively adds to the enjoyment of the party. Eye appeal is so important. Consider the food colors and try to have a complimentary serving dish, one that does not distract from the food. Generally, solid colors work well. Remember baskets and vases can be used to hold napkins and silverware. And a cake on a pedestal "makes a statement"!
