Cut phyllo dough in half and trim to fit into a 9x13-inch pan. Lay half on bottom. Mix sugar, cinnamon, and nuts; spread over phyllo; put remaining half of pastry over top. Cut into diamonds. Pour butter over top. Bake at 325° about 50 minutes.
Combine all in saucepan; bring to a boil. Simmer to consistency of thick syrup; cool. Drizzle over hot baklava diamonds.
Fun Fact: Know how to be a "diamond cutter"? For a 9x13-inch pan, cut six equal strips lengthwise. Then cut 1 1/2-inch strips diagonally
