Shortly after we released the new My Recipes view for iPhone and iPad, Christine Roam left this comment on my Facebook demo video:

“The latest update is driving me nuts. When using on my phone, if I switch to another app, I have to start all over with finding and launching the recipe. It is not saving my place so I can easily switch back.”

Christine was absolutely right!

The old My Recipes view remembered exactly where you were. If you were looking at a particular cookbook, chapter, or recipe, Cook’n remembered your place so you could come back later and pick up right where you left off.

Unfortunately, when we built the new My Recipes view, that little bit of logic accidentally got left behind. 😬

And I could immediately see why Christine was frustrated. When you're cooking, you may switch from Cook’n to a text message, a timer, your grocery app, or something else on your phone. If iOS eventually closes Cook’n in the background, you certainly don't want to have to navigate all the way back to the recipe you were using!

So, I replied:

I wrote:

“Christine, you are absolutely right! We missed this one. 😬

Thank you for pointing it out! I've already sent this to the Cook’n Elves and asked them to put that functionality back.

This is exactly the kind of feedback we need after a big update. Thanks for helping us make Cook’n better, Christine! 😊”

Well, I'm happy to report that the Cook’n Elves fixed it!

We added the functionality back and released it in the latest Cook’n update a few days ago.

Now, Cook’n once again remembers where you were in My Recipes. So, if you leave the app and come back later, even after Cook’n has been closed, you can get right back to the cookbook, chapter, or recipe you were viewing.
