Magic Scan Is Here for Android!

Android users, your turn has arrived!

Last December, we introduced Magic Scan with the Cook'n Version 16 Desktop App Update. Last month, we announced that "Magic Scan Is Finally Complete!" on iPhone and iPad.

And now I'm happy to announce that Magic Scan is available on Android too!

And here's something you may not realize: that doesn't just mean Android phones and tablets. It also means you can use Magic Scan on your Kindle Fire and Chromebook!

So, if you've ever had a recipe sitting in a cookbook, magazine, recipe card, printout, or even a screenshot on your device and wished you could magically turn it into a Cook'n recipe...

Now you can.

Watch Magic Scan in Action on Android

I made a quick demo video to show you exactly how it works.

And yes...it really is this easy. 😊

Take a Picture. Cook'n Does the Rest.

Open Cook'n on your Android phone, tablet, Kindle Fire, or Chromebook, tap Scan, and take a picture of a recipe.

Or, if you've already taken pictures or screenshots, choose them from your Photo Library.

Then let Magic Scan go to work.

Behind the scenes, our highly trained EI (Elf Intelligence) gets busy reading your recipe and figuring out what's what. Cook'n identifies the recipe title, ingredients, directions, servings, yield, and other recipe information and turns it into an actual Cook'n recipe.

Not just a picture of a recipe.

Not a PDF you have to squint at later.

A real, editable Cook'n recipe that you can search, organize, add to your shopping list, include in meal plans, and keep with the rest of your recipe collection.

That's the magic in Magic Scan.

And You're Not Limited to One Page

Got a recipe that continues onto another page?

No problem.

Magic Scan can process multiple photos together, so you can photograph all the pages of a recipe and let Cook'n put the pieces together.

That makes it especially handy for recipes from:

📖 Cookbooks
📰 Magazines
🗂️ Recipe cards
📄 Printed recipes
📱 Screenshots
✍️ And other recipes you've collected over the years

Think about all those recipes you have tucked away in drawers, boxes, binders, cookbooks, and photo albums.

They don't have to stay there anymore.

Your Old Recipes Just Got a New Life

This is the part of Magic Scan that excites me the most.

Some of our most treasured recipes aren't on websites. They're the recipes we've collected over a lifetime. They're Grandma's recipe cards. They're recipes clipped from magazines 25 years ago. They're pages from favorite cookbooks with stains in the margins because we've made that recipe a hundred times.

Magic Scan gives you an incredibly fast way to bring those recipes into Cook'n and preserve them as part of your digital recipe collection.

And now, whether you use an iPhone, iPad, Android phone or tablet, Kindle Fire, Chromebook, Mac, or Windows PC, Magic Scan is ready for you.

So grab that old cookbook.

Pull out that recipe box.

Open Cook'n and give Magic Scan a try.

You may suddenly discover that digitizing your recipe collection is a whole lot more fun than it used to be. 😊

Happy Cook'n!
