Vanilla Sauce

Serves: 6

3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
6 egg yolk
1 cup milk
pinch salt


Beat the sugar, yolks, vanilla, and salt together on the top of a double boiler and stir in the milk. Cook over the boiling water, stirring constantly until mixture coats a spoon. Chill.
