Cook squash and onion together in water until tender; drain well. In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, eggs, crackers, ranch dressing, and shredded cheese together. Mash squash with a fork and combine with ranch mixture. Pour into a greased casserole dish. Mix melted butter with bread crumbs and put on top of casserole. Bake 20–25 minutes in a 350° oven.
